A Bantamweight match-up pitting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Leandro Issa, against PXC vet Russell Doane (pictured) has been added to January’s UFC Fight Night 34 (or UFC: Singapore) bill.
FightSport Asia first reported the match-up.
Headlined by a Welterweight bout between rising South Korean star Hyun Gyu Lim (12-3-1) and former Strikeforce champ Tarec Saffiedine (14-3), UFC Fight Night 34 takes place January 4 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Leandro Issa (11-3) trains and fights out of Singapore-based Evolve MMA, alongside ONE FC vets Shinya Aoki, Eddie Ng and the multiple world champions the gym has at its disposal. A former Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion in his own right, Issa garnered attention for his performances in ONE Fighting Championship, where he held a record of 3-1. He was last seen at ONE FC 8: Kings & Champions, in a triumphant victory over Russian grappling maestro, Yusup Saadulaev.
Russell Doane (12-3), meanwhile, is a former contender at 135-lbs under the PXC banner. The Honolulu, Hawaii native holds notable wins over Tyson Nam, Jon delos Reyes and Jared Papazian. With an 83% finish rate in his twelve victories, Doane is not one who likes to go the distance, and fans expect to see some solid performances from the 29-year-old.
The UFC Fight Night 34 fight card now includes:
